Can you imagine what it must be like to function in your day to day life with no arms?　How do you use the phone? Open the door? Normal day to day activities are a real challenge for those people.

 Hello, everyone! We are Team Harka from the HOPE.

 Let us introduce you to Harka Man Ghartimagar(Harka), a para-swimmer from Nepal. Despite losing both arms at a young age, Harka's indomitable spirit has seen him rise to represent Nepal on the international stage. His dream? To compete in the Los Angeles Paralympics in 2028! However, to turn this dream into reality, Harka faces a significant challenge: the lack of funds for travel and training. This is where your support becomes vital.

 

With the slogans “Small change, Big Impact” and “Be the change”

 Driven by the shared belief that "we want to support those in the most challenging situations through grassroots activities," we initiated this project to back Harka's journey. To continue providing this support, we applied registration to establish the General Incorporated Association HOPE (Help One Person Every single day) on 31st March, 2025.

 

A journey with Frontline International Humanitarian Aid Worker Linda Cruse, and meeting Harka

 

In November 2024, we embarked on a humanitarian mission to the remote mountain villages of Nepal with Linda Cruse. It was during this journey that we had the incredible fortune of meeting Harka. Despite losing both arms, Harka continues to pursue his dreams with relentless determination as a para-swimmer. His unwavering spirit and resilience deeply moved us, igniting a powerful desire to support him in any way we could.

 

 

 

Harka's Journey and Dreams

 

At the age of nine, Harka lost both of his arms in an accident, which forced him to drop out of school. With the support of Linda's initiatives, Harka was given the opportunity to return to school. His perseverance paid off as he not only excelled academically, becoming the top student, but was also elected as the student council president. Today, Harka is a proud member of Nepal’s national para-swimming team. His next dream is to represent Nepal at the Paralympics and to become a beacon of hope and a leader who inspires others facing similar challenges.

2020: Participated in a training camp in Kobe, Japan

2024: Won two medals at the Asian Para Swimming Championships

April 2025: Scheduled to compete in the Para Swimming World Series in Fuji, Shizuoka

September-October 2026: Expected to compete in the Asian Para Games in Aichi-Nagoya

2028: Aiming to compete in the Los Angeles Summer Paralympics

 

The Para Swimming World Series in Fuji, Shizuoka in April 2025 is a crucial event as it serves as a precursor to the Paralympics. Harka is diligently training every day, despite limited resources, to achieve his ultimate dream of competing in the 2028 Paralympics.

 

 

　　

What is our project?☺

Target amount: 300,000 yen** (total cost required to participate in this tournament: 600,000 yen, training cost per month: 100,000 yen)

 

Use of funding:

To cover Harka's participation fee in the "Para Swimming World Series Fuji-Shizuoka 2025" to be held in April 2025

■ Participation fee for the tournament

■ Expedition expenses (travel expenses in Japan, accommodation expenses, race analysis expenses, etc.) 

■ Visa application fee

To cover Harka's training expenses in Nepal from April 14th to May 31st, 2025

■ Coaching fee

■ Pool usage fee

■ Transportation expenses

■ Nutrition management fee

 

Planned activities: Harka's participation in the tournament and intensive training. The HOPE will support for Harka’ participants of Fuji tournament in person. After he will get back to Nepal, we will hold online exchanges with Japanese junior and senior high school students or past Paralympic athletes.

 

**The primary goal amount for this project is 300,000 yen. If this amount is exceeded, the secondary goal is set at 600,000 yen and then 1,000,000 yen. The additional funding in the next goals will be used for airfare to the tournament, nutritional management fees during the tournament, and crowdfunding fees in addition to above. Even if the next goal is not achieved, we plan to proceed with our own funds, but we would greatly appreciate your support.

Harka’s challenge is not only significant for himself but also serves as a great hope for those facing similar disabilities and difficulties. Supporting the growth of a talented individual like Harka, who is striving to make his mark on the world, could lead to nurturing future leaders for Nepal and the generations to follow. His journey will inspire and give hope to people not only in Nepal but also around the world.
