This edition includes an analysis of Japan’s influence on the US regarding the ’No First Use’ policy as well as recent remarks by Japanese government officials and moves by Japanese civil society to support US counterparts in urging Japanese political parties not to oppose this policy. There is also a report on the outlook for the new Kishida Administration’s energy policy which shows that the 2030 targets set for nuclear power are unattainable. CNIC’s Co-Director Ban Hideyuki reports on a symposium on radioactive waste disposal held in Iwanai Town, Hokkaido and we also include reference material on Japan’s plutonium stockpile and nuclear industry worker’s radioactive exposure. 

Our regular features, News Watch, covers the TEPCO criminal trial and other lawsuits as well as the serious damage discovered in the ALPS water filtering system at Fukushima Daiichi NPP, and our Group introduction is Kodoken, which was established in the aftermath of the Fukushima meltdowns in order to protect children’s health and future by countering the ‘radiation is safe’ propaganda that was being spread by authorities.
