こんにちは。このプロジェクトで支援するSaymoreの会議参加費用ですが、実際に彼が何を学んだのか、そのレポートを書いてもらったので、みなさんと共有したいと思います。あえて彼の言葉のまま、英語で投稿しますが、あとで日本語訳を載せるので、そちらも後ほど見てください！

 

YouthSparkConference2018 was hosted in Nairobi, Kenya from 19 to 20 November 2018. The theme of the conference was From Africa to the World: Exploring youths potentials in developing the continent that was focusing on Sustainable Development Goals 4 Quality education, 8 Decent work and economic growth and 9 Industry, innovation and infrastructure.

The conference opened doors of opportunities in line with the vision of YPEZ Trust of promoting quality education in Zimbabwe. The Youth Spark Conference gave me insights on the importance of uniformity in educational practices of Africa.

We discussed on the issues around African Union Agenda 2063 Aspirations which promotes the teaching of African values. Education was said to be the driving force behind promoting local to foreign policy. We also tackled the issue of inclusive education where by learning that is inclusive must take into account issues on people living with disabilities, people from minority tribes and religions as well as the protection of the girl child. Education that teaching values and skills is central to socioeconomic development of Africa through education that promotes tolerance and appreciation of one another.

Entrepreneurship for economic development and servant leadership we real so touched on where schools should teach learners to become innovative to solve local problems using local solutions. Africa has abundant resources and it needs custodians who are community centered. There was also an emphasis on the need to raise awareness in teachers on issues around human trafficking,gender-based violence and climate change. These issues around Sustainable Development Goals must be taken as part of the school curriculum so that when learners graduate from school, they will be highly knowledgeable in these areas. A number of recommendations and strategies were raised during the conference whereby schools must be engaged by civil society to come up with SDGs' activities in schools. Over and above, peace, prosperity and protection of planet earth must take central stage of the school activities.

Upon my return from the Youth Spark Conference I also attended the Innovation for Africa Summit which was basically focusing on teacher capacity development in line with the use of technology in the modern-day teaching. I had the opportunity to meet high level delegates at the Summit including ministers from different countries across Africa and over the world.
Particularly the Education Minister of Nigeria who then invited me to come to Nigeria in April 2019 to speak at a workshop there.
