We are organizing an event called “Ukulele “愛”-ai (love) land festival” in Japan. We held this event for the 1st time on 10/22/2019 to help different kinds of people get “connected” through the sound of “Aloha” from Ukulele. When we started planning for this year’s festival, we’ve heard that “Hawaii” is in critical situation from our good friend from Hawaii, Reiko T Rogers from “StudioRim Hawaii”
Oahu was having the 2nd lockdown and all the stores, restaurants around Waikiki’s are closed, the economic activities focused on tourism got stagnant, and the cultural program’s in a critical situation. Still only half of the places are reopening, there are so many artists who lost their place, opportunities to perform, but not having their living guaranteed.
Hawaii, where culture of ukulele was made. We think this is our chance to give gratitude and send love for sharing their amazing culture by our “crowdfunding”
Starting from ¥1000, ¥2000, ¥3000 to ¥5000 . All the donated money will go through “Ukulele Friends Hawaii” to support Hawaiian musicians who lost their place to perform , and also through “Hawaiian Music Perpetuation Society” to support the cultural inheritance of Hawaii.
We will be streaming on 11/8 (Japan Time) on YouTube radio of this event.
Members from “Ukulele Friends Hawaii” will be joining us, sharing stories about the situation in Hawaii.
