Overview and How to Support Kyoto Experiment 2022

This page explains our crowdfunding project and how you can make a donation. Please note donations can be made by credit card only. 

 

Kyoto Experiment is a performing arts festival held in Kyoto since 2010. Dedicated to producing experimental performing arts—both from Japan and overseas— the festival aims to bring the arts and society closer together through new forms of dialogue. The festival is known as one of the few international performing arts festivals in Japan that is largely publically funded, carries out international exchange and is experimental in nature. 

 

Due to covid direct international exchange has not been possible since 2020, however this year we will finally be welcoming international artists and are making preparations so that our audiences can experience works currently at the forefront of experimental artistic expression. Despite this, we are facing a number of unprecedented difficulties that have been caused by; the effects of covid; Kyoto City's administrative and fiscal reforms that have resulted in the city's funding contribution to the festival being reduced by nearly half; and current international affairs, including Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the weakening yen, that have meant expenses related to inviting international productions have increased. This has left us in a situation in which there are unprecedented shortfalls in our budget.

 

Due to this we have decided to launch our first crowdfunding campaign to help raise funds for this year's festival. We hope for your support in Kyoto Experiment's endeavours to create new connections in society through experimental performing arts and international exchange.

RewardsAs this crowdfunding project uses a special tax incentive system for residents in Japan, please note we are unable to offer rewards to those who donate from overseas. Please contact cf@kyoto-ex.jp if you need a donation confirmation receipt (either for individuals or corporations.) Please note donations are not tax deductible.)

You will be taken to the page below and asked to create an account.  Please register with your LINE account or Facebook account or e-mail address. 

 

 

If you decide to register with your e-mail address, you will see the page below. 

Please enter your name, e-mail address, and password, and press the red button at the bottom of the page to create your account.

 

After clicking the red button you will receive an email from READYFOR (no_reply@readyfor.jp) and asked to verify your email address by clicking on the first URL inthe email. 

After clicking the URL, you will be taken to the page below.  

 

 

① Chose the amount you wish to donate. You can choose to donate in increments of 5,000 yen, 10,000 yen, 30,000 yen, 100,000 yen, 450,000 yen or 1,000,000 yen. 

 

② Click here to change the number of 10,000 yen increments you wish to donate. For example, to donate only 10,000 yen, change this number to 1. If you want to donate 20,000 yen, change this number to 2 (10,000 yen x 2 = 20,000 yen).

 

③ Enter the name you wish to be printed in our progress report.

 

Scroll down to see asummary of what you have chosen.

 

 

After confirming the donation amount, choose to pay by credit card or bank transfer (Japanese banks only) and click the red button at the bottom right of the page.

 

 

 

Please enter your credit card number and card expiration date. 

 

After you enter your credit card information, please scroll down.
 

In this section, please enter your address so that the project members can send you a thank you gift. 
 

If you do not live in Japan, please follow the instructions in red. (The project team will also contact you for further information about your address to ensure the thank you gift is delivered to you).

After entering your address, please click the red button in the bottom right to proceed.

 

 

 

Next, you will see the page below, where you can check all your details, including the amount of money you are pledging, your name, address, and credit card number. 

 

If all the information is correct, please click the red button in the bottom right to confirm your contribution.

Once you confirm your contribution, your donation is complete and you will see the page below. 

Please write a message for the project (your  message will be listed in the 応援コメント (Support Comments) section of the project page. Send the message by clicking the red button below the box. If you do not write a message, the default message 「頑張ってください！」(Good luck!) will be posted.
