TIPS保護者からのメッセージ

「ぼくの将来の夢は、文化史学者になることです。何が文化を違うものにし、何が文化を成長させ、何が文化を衰退させるのかに興味があります。中国社会がどのように成長し機能したのか、アメリカやヨーロッパの変化とどのように違ったのか、それらがどのようにつながっているのかなどについて知りたいです。たとえば、第二次世界大戦のようなことが、どうやって起こったかを学ぶことは、人間について学ぶことだと思います。これらのことを調べ、人々に伝えることは、例えば、選挙でだれに投票するかを選ぶことに役立ち、社会を良くすることに役立つと思います。」

10歳の誕生日、息子は「お誕生日は嬉しくない。大人になって生きていけると思えない。だから死にたい」と打ち明けました。息子は公立の小学校1年生の冬に、学習障害を持っている可能性があると指摘され、通級や特別支援学級で支援して頂きましたが、だんだんと学校に通うのが難しくなくなりました。家の外に出るだけでも体が強張ってしまう状態を経て、完全に不登校になって迎えた10歳の誕生日でした。

TIPSに来て1年、息子は笑顔で誕生日を迎え、自信を持って将来の夢を語るようになりました。先生や友達と共に学ぶことが、子供にとって、これほどに大切なことだったのかと痛感しました。今の息子の関心事は、文化史学者になる夢を叶えるために、どのような準備をすればよいか、という事です。誰もがそうであるように、息子の場合も、将来の夢が叶うかは分かりません。でも、ＴＩＰＳで思う存分学び、夢に向かって挑戦してほしいと思います。

息子が不登校だった時、同じように「死にたい」思いを抱えているお友達に会いました。自分に合った学びの場を必要としつつ、その機会が得られていない子供は、日本中にたくさん居ることと思います。TIPSは学校法人として認可されておらず、一般的な学校と比べ、財政面で不利な点があります。TIPSは小規模な学校ですが、新しい校舎への移転により、校舎や設備が充実し、TIPSが学校として成長することを願います。そしてTIPSの教育の良い面が日本の公立校にも取り入れられて、すべての子供に必要な学びの場が得られるようになることを切に願っています。

“I want to be a cultural historian. I am interested in what makes cultures as different as they are, what can make them grow, and what can make them fall. I would like to know about things like how Chinese society grew, and worked, and how different it was from changes in America and Europe, and how they are connected. Learning about how things like World War II happened, can also help us understand who we are, and what that can mean. I want to be a historian because I believe that teaching these things to people will help understand the kinds of people they are voting for in elections, and advances humanity.”

On his 10th birthday, our son said, "I am not happy with my birthday, my life has been unsuccessful so far, and will be in the future. I want to die." In the winter of the first grade of public elementary school, it was pointed out that our son might have a learning disorder. Since then, he has been supported by a special-needs program, but he could not fit into that program, and eventually, it became difficult for him to even go outside of the house. By his 10th birthday, he was chronically absent from school.

Now, he has attended TIPS for more than one year, and he confidently talks about his dreams for the future. We are amazed by how much his learning experience has been changed when fully integrated with teachers and friends. We can see him developing every day, and we were pleasantly surprised to have him asking about what he needs to do in order to study history at a university.
