In this return gift, we will present you with copies of recordings from Sōju Nosaka II's first performances at a past recital; not available to the general public.

The details of the sound source are as follows.

 

1. A Movement for Japanese Instruments and Orchestral Concerto (composed by Bondai Fujii)

Koto: Keiko (Sōju) Nosaka, Orchestra: Orchestra 27

First performed on May 19, 1965 at the Keiko Nosaka Koto Recital.

First performed at Sōju Nosaka’s debut recital, together with orchestra.

2. TENNYO (composed by Minoru Miki)

20-string koto: Keiko (Sōju) Nosaka

First performed on November 7, 1969 at the 2nd Keiko Nosaka Koto Recital – for 20-String Koto.

Sōju Nosaka first introduced the 20-string koto at this recital.

3. SAO no Kyoku (The Venus in Spring), TATSUTA no Kyoku (The Venus in Autumn) (composed by Minoru Miki)

20-string koto: Keiko (Sōju) Nosaka

First performed on November 15, 1971 at the Keiko Nosaka Solo Koto Concert Series.

Sōju Nosaka increased the number of strings on the koto from 20 to 21 in order to play TATSUTA no Kyoku.

NOTE: There is a short pause before the music begins.

4. MONO-IU-MAI; Monodie chorégraphique pour KOTO á vingt cordes (composed by Akira Ifukube)

20-string koto: Keiko (Sōju) Nosaka

First performed on November 28, 1979 at the 8th Keiko Nosaka Koto Recital.

This is the first solo piece for the 20-string koto, including the 25-string koto, composed by Akira Ifukube.

5. Tsugaru (composed by Keiko Nosaka)

20-string koto: Keiko (Sōju) Nosaka

Performed on November 12, 1990 at the Keiko Nosaka 20-String Koto Recital.

This is a representative piece by Keiko Nosaka.

6. TOCCATA; pour KOTO á vingt-cinq cordes (composed by Akira Ifukube)

25-string koto: Keiko (Sōju) Nosaka

First performed on November 1, 1991 at the13th Keiko Nosaka Koto Recital.

Sōju Nosaka first developed the 25-string koto in order to play this piece.

7. SUITE JAPONAISE; pour KOTO á vingt-cinq cordes Duo – dessus et basse (composed by Akira Ifukube)

25-string koto: Keiko (Sōju) Nosaka, Low-tone 25-string koto: Yukari Sato

First performed on November 1st, 1991 at the 13th Keiko Nosaka Koto Recital.

Sōju Nosaka first developed the 25-string koto in order to play this piece.
