I am Shiori Ito, a project member. I would like to report on the second visit in February 2025.

 

With this second visit, we’ve successfully completed the on-site activities of our project. We deeply appreciate the support and collaboration of all those involved.

◆ Overview of the Activities

This year, we again targeted 4 elementary schools in the Pyuthan region, just as we did last year. The details of the elementary school students are as follows.

On the day of the activities, two of the four schools gathered at one location, where we held a Donation Ceremony. Additionally, we conducted handwashing and toothbrushing education for all the students.

Many of the children participated in the ceremony wearing the tracksuits distributed last year, and they greeted us with a warm welcome program of nice songs and dances. It was clear that they were enjoying the project again this year.

 

 

 

◆Donated Items
We donated the following items during this year’s visit:

・Stationery Supplies
Notebooks / Sketchbooks / Pencils / Crayons / Colored pens / Erasers / Pencil sharpeners / Rulers

 

・Sports & Recreational Items
Volleyball, Volleyball nets / Carrom boards

 

・Clothing & Daily Items
School bags / Tracksuits (for new students)

 

・Hygiene Supplies
Soap / Handkerchiefs / Toothbrushes / Toothpaste 

 

This year, many of the materials were purchased locally in Pyuthan and transported to the schools. However, toothbrushes and toothpaste were brought from Japan. Here are scenes from the preparation of donated items and the donation ceremony at the local site.

 

 

◆Educational Support Activities
Last year, we provided handwashing and toothbrushing lessons at only one school. This year, we were able to expand the program and conduct these lessons at all four schools. We also carried out a questionnaire survey, 　like last year. All educational and research activities were carried out with the approval of the ethical review boards of both Nepal and our university.
