Do you know Uganda?
It is a landlocked country 1,000,000km away from Japan.

↑ This is the third largest lake in the world. (Lake Victoria)
Do you know lacrosse?
It is the fastest contact sport using sticks.
As I mentioned before,
I try crowdfunding to invite Ugandan children.

Self-introduction
I’m Yota Nakagawa, known as Waku Waku-master.(WakuWaku means excited, fun, powerful)
I was born in Tokyo, Feb21,1997
I love things that make me excited(Waku Waku).
I really like to think about how to make everyone excited(Waku Waku).
That’s why I named Waku Waku-master.
Call me Waku Waku-master!
I work as a rickshaw driver in Asakusa.
This August I’ll become an elementary school teacher.
I think children are our precious. Of course, they sometimes annoy me.
However, children have infinite possibilities.

I want them to do everything they want to do and to continue to be excited.
I think these things connect to their abundant life.
That’s why I decided to be a teacher.
Let’s move on to my lacrosse career.
I joined the Univercity lacrosse team in 2015.
This is the origin of my lacrosse life.
After graduating from the University, I joined amateur team WELLS.
I’m a lacrosse coach at Tokyo Gakugei University now.
Lacrosse is my life.
The Triger of My Project
I quit my job to be an elementary school teacher. I decided to do everything I want to do.
Go to Africa as a backpacker was what I want to do most.
I traveled Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, Oman, and some Asia middle eastern countries.
Finally, I got Uganda, and I found Ugandan lacrosse there.
There are many people playing lacrosse passionately like Japanese lacrosse player.

I never forget the excitement and feeling of playing lacrosse with them at a place 10,000km away from Japan. Just remembering it now makes me smile.
When people from different countries, with different languages and ethnicities, were connected through lacrosse, I was very excited.
Then, I started to think about replying to the kindness by inviting people who gave me this experience to Japan.
That’s why I try this crowdfunding.
Through This Project
1. Expand children’s possibilities.
As I mentioned in the self-introduction part, I became an elementary school teacher.
I quit my job, drive a rickshaw and travel as a backpacker to show children various world.
It is interesting to dive into an unknown world. New encounters teach me about interests and excitements I never knew I had.
Conversely, when times are tough, knowing that the world isn’t limited, and that there is another world out there, helps you not to worry too much.
I want children to know they have countless choices in life.
Please imagine, Ugandan children will play lacrosse with Japanese children.

They will get to know each other gradually.
They notice that there are many lacrosse players in other countries. They know that it is able to communicate without language.
By learning about what they can do and discovering new worlds, children can find opportunities to realize their own potential.
This is what I want to do.
2.Increase learning opportunities for children in Uganda.
I visited some Ugandan schools there and talked with teachers and KLA coaches about the current state of education in Uganda.
Buying uniforms and textbooks are a financial burden on families, these are children who cannot enter school or drop out due to expenses.
Additionally, having to repeat a grade in elementary school also creates a financial burden.
Due to these factors, the elementary school graduation rate remains at about 60%.
While we understand that going to school and receiving education is extremely important, we should reduce situations where children have no choice but to go without education.

The children who were receiving lessons at school were bursting with energy, and it was impressive to see them participating in classes enthusiastically.
Children have the power to enjoy everything. We must avoid the situation that children leave their school due to economic reasons. KLA is currently reaching out to the world through lacrosse to give these children educational opportunities and seeking donations.
In fact, KLA bought school uniforms for 7 children and support their studies.
So, I thought this project would help them.
I’m now lining in Japan after returning from overseas, I’ve started paying attention to news and information of Africa that I was not particularly interested in.
I strongly felt that people maintain interest in matters they’ve been involved in.
I want to create opportunities for everyone to develop an interest in Uganda.
If we do this, more people will be interested in current situations in Uganda and KLA.
I hope that the number of people who try to support children increase by knowing Uganda and KLA.
I hope this project connects the chance to learn for children.
Your cooperation is absolutely essential!

Uganda is very beautiful place. Deep green grass and vibrant red soil spread everywhere.
Children in Uganda are pure and energetic. I’m attracted to such aspects of Uganda.
I want you to feel their energy.
I want Ugandan children to know and see the world. To see various worlds is a lifelong treasure for children. To know there are many lacrosse players in different countries, it is fun to play together without language and the world expands in front of them will be the trigger to know new possibilities. It is fun to make such experiences through lacrosse.
I’ll do my best to achieve this project. I need your support.
I think you start being interested in lacrosse and Uganda by reading this article.
Are you excited by imagining Ugandan children come to Japan?
Why don’t you realize our dream together?
I can’t realize this project alone. This is a big challenge for me.
Honestly, I’m not sure this project will be realized.
However, many people support this project. Ugandan children are looking forward to visit Japan.
So, I will definitely make this project a success.
If you are interested in this project, please support us.
