今回は、なぜニュージーランドの学校視察をしようと考えたのか、その背景や思い についてお話しさせてください。

 

◆ 私たちがこの活動を始めた理由

私はこれまで20年間、英語教育を通じて幼児から高校生まで、たくさんの子どもたちと関わってきました。

　子どもたちのエネルギーに励まされ、学び、一緒に成長させていただきました。同時に、一人の親として子育てに向き合う中で、さまざまな壁にもぶつかってきました。

 

そして、ふと考えるようになったのです。

「今の日本社会は、子どもたちにとって本当に良い環境と言えるだろうか？」
「子どもたちの未来はどうなっていくだろう？」

もちろん、すべての人に不安があるわけではありません。

しかし、今の子どもたちが置かれている状況を見ていると、深刻な問題が数多くあることも事実です。

 

◆ 現代の子どもたちが直面している問題

✔ いじめ（特にSNS上のトラブル）

✔ 学級崩壊

✔ 不登校の増加

✔ 学習意欲の低下

✔ メンタルヘルスの問題（ストレス・不安・抑うつ など）

学校は、本来、単に知識を学ぶ場所ではなく、子どもたちが「生きる力」を育む場所 であるべきです。

友だちや先生と関わる中で、自分の考えを表現する力、相手の意見を受け入れる力、自分の才能を発見する機会 が得られる。

そんな成長の場であることが理想です。

 

ですが、現実には多くの子どもたちが…

📌 不安や自信喪失

📌 自己肯定感の低下

📌 孤独感・自己否定・無力感

📌 反抗心や諦め

など、さまざまな精神的ストレスを抱えています。

その背景には、次のような要因があると考えています。

 

◆ 子どもたちの自己肯定感が低下する要因

🔹 SNSの普及によるリアルな対人コミュニケーションの減少

🔹 成績や偏差値を重視した評価制度

🔹 創造性より暗記中心の学習

🔹 ネット上での誹謗中傷

🔹 ゲーム・動画コンテンツの過剰利用

🔹 教師の負担増加・人手不足

 

こうした状況の中で、今大人として何ができるのか？

どうすれば、子どもたちが「自分らしく生きる力」を育める環境を作れるのか？

この問いに向き合いながら、「心育」代表の田中みきとともに、私たちは海外の教育視察という一歩を踏み出しました。

 

 

◆ なぜニュージーランドなのか？

ニュージーランドは、自己肯定感が自然と高まる教育環境・家庭環境・社会の価値観 を持つ国です。

大人も子どもも、「自分らしく」生き生きと暮らせる幸福度の高い社会。
そんな環境をつくるためのヒントを、現地の学校から学ばせていただきたい。その思いが通じて、学校視察させていただけるというご縁をいただきました。

 

そこで、私たちは…

◎ニュージーランドの学校を視察し、日本でも活かせる教育のヒントを探る

◎現地の先生たちと交流し、どのような工夫をしているのかを学ぶ
◎ 「自己肯定感を育む教育の実現」に向けた具体的なアクションを見つける

 

この目的を持ち、今回のクラウドファンディングを立ち上げました。

 

 

◆ 皆さんと一緒に、未来を変えていきたい

私たち二人の力は小さなものかもしれません。

ですが、皆さんと一緒に取り組めば、大きな一歩を踏み出せると信じています。

 

「子どもたちが自分らしく生きられる社会」を、私たちと一緒に築いていきませんか？
 未来の子どもたちのために、一緒にこの一歩を踏み出していただけたら嬉しいです！

🔶Why We Decided to Visit Schools in New Zealand

I would like to share with you the background and thoughts behind our decision to visit schools in New Zealand.

 

🔶Why I Started This Initiative

For the past 20 years, I have been involved in English education, working with children from preschoolers to high school students.

Every day, I have been inspired by their energy, learned alongside them, and grown together. At the same time, as a parent myself, I have also faced many challenges in raising my own child.

 

This led me to reflect:

"Is today's Japanese society truly a good environment for children?"
"What does the future hold for them?"

Of course, not everyone feels anxious.
However, it is undeniable that many serious issues are affecting children today.

 

Challenges Children Face Today

✔ Bullying (especially online harassment through SNS)

✔ Classroom disruption

✔ Increasing school refusal

✔ Declining motivation to learn

✔ Mental health issues (stress, anxiety, depression, etc.)

 

Ideally, school should not just be a place to acquire knowledge but a space where children can develop the skills they need to thrive in life.

Through interactions with friends and teachers, they should be able to express their own thoughts, accept different perspectives, and discover their own talents.
School should be a place that prepares them for society and nurtures their ability to live independently.

 

The Harsh Reality Many Children Face

📌 Anxiety and loss of confidence

📌 Decreased self-esteem

📌 Loneliness, self-doubt, and feelings of powerlessness

📌 Rebellion and resignation

 

Many children today experience immense psychological stress.

 

What’s Causing This Decline in Self-Esteem?

🔹 Reduced face-to-face communication due to social media use

🔹 A school system that prioritizes grades and test scores over individual growth
　🔹 A memorization-based learning approach that stifles creativity

　🔹 Online anonymity leading to cyberbullying and harsh criticism

　🔹 Excessive time spent on video games and online content

　🔹 Overworked teachers and a lack of support for educators

 

Given these challenges, we started asking ourselves:

What can we, as adults, do right now?

How can we create an environment where children can develop the confidence to be themselves?

To find answers, we established the voluntary organization 'Kokoiku,' and we took our first step by exploring educational models abroad..

 

🔶Why New Zealand?

New Zealand is known for its education system, family environment, and social values that naturally foster self-esteem.

It is a country where both children and adults live authentically and happily.

We were fortunate to receive the opportunity to visit schools in New Zealand, where we hope to gain insights that can be applied in Japan.

 

Our Goals for This Visit

✅ Observe New Zealand’s schools and find inspiration for improving education in Japan

✅ Engage with local teachers and learn about their approaches and philosophies
✅ Identify concrete actions to implement self-esteem-building education in Japan

 

With these goals in mind, we launched this crowdfunding campaign.
