【輪島の家】

Thank you so much for your continuing support, I really appreciate it.
This week I had a re inspection of my home in Wajima as in the first inspection, they only looked at the house from a distance and weren't able to inspect the foundations because of the landslides blocking access. Fortunately, bulldozers had made a path in the river to clear the river of the landslide debris so we utilised that path to get to the house.  The scene was totally heartbreaking, although by some miracle the house remains standing, it is totally off its foundations with the supporting pillars floating in midair. The floors and ceiling have begun to give way and so it was too dangerous to enter for a full inspection but the inspectors saw enough to declare that it was "zenkai".
What was more heartbreaking was how stunning the garden looked with all my fruit trees in bloom, my urushi trees filling out and my lilac which I have been unsuccessfully trying to grow for many years, smothered in beautiful flowers. The wild flowers were also gorgeous and bamboo shoots were popping out everywhere; I count my blessings that I was privileged to live there for 34 years !

今週は輪島の自宅の災害家屋(再調査)を依頼したのですが、1回目の時と同様に土砂崩れで家に行く道が塞がれていたため、遠くから家を見るだけで基礎の点検は出来ないと言われました。しかし幸運なことにブルドーザーが川に道を作って土砂崩れの瓦礫を川から取り除いてくれたので、その道を利用して家にたどり着きました。

その光景は心が痛むものでした。奇跡的に家は立っていましたが支える柱が宙に浮いたまま、完全に基礎から外れていました。床と天井が崩れ始めていて調査の為に中に入るのは危険過ぎましたが、検査官はその光景が「全壊」であると結論付けるのには十分なものでした。また更に悲痛だったのは、庭に植えた果樹の花々が咲き乱れ漆の木が生い茂り、長年育てようとして失敗していたライラックが今年は美しい花を咲かせている様子でした。野の花も華やかで、タケノコがあちこちに飛び出していました。

今はもう住めない事がとても悲しいですが、34年間そこに住めたことを光栄に思います。
